OPM-293 CD05 Medium

OPM-293 CD05 Medium is a chemically defined (CD), animal-origin free (AOF), and GMP-grade basal medium with an FDA Drug Master File (DMF) on record. It is formulated for high-efficiency transient transfection and protein expression in HEK293 cells.

Recommended companion products: OPM-293 ProFeed and CarpTrans Transfection Reagent.

This product is intended for research use or further manufacturing, including large-scale biopharmaceutical production. It is not intended for direct human administration or use as a drug substance or drug product.

Which 293 cell lines are compatible with this expression system?

This system is validated for a wide range of suspension 293 cell lines, including HEK293F and HEK293S.

Is this expression system entirely serum-free?

Yes. All components of the system are 100% serum-free.

What is the optimal timing for protein harvest?

For secreted proteins, we recommend harvesting when cell viability drops to ≤60%.

For intracellular or membrane proteins, harvest at a viability threshold of ≤85%, or adjust based on the specific protein stability.

Is the OPM-293 CD05 Medium compatible with Strep-tag or His-tag purification systems?

For intracellular or membrane proteins, the medium is fully compatible with Strep-tag and His-tag systems.

For secreted proteins, however, direct purification may be limited. To ensure optimal results, we recommend adding NiSO₄ to a final concentration of 1mM prior to His-tag purification. For Strep-tag applications, a buffer exchange or dialysis is recommended before loading the sample.
